Erläuterungen zum Harmonisierten System (HS) Gipsstein ist ein natürliches, wasserhaltiges Calciumsulfat, im allgemeinen zerrbeibbar und von weißer Farbe. Anhydrit ist eine wasserfreie Art des natürlichen Calciumsulfats, der zur Herstellung von Schwefelsäure und gewisser Gipsarten verwendet wird. Gips besteht aus Gipsstein und wird durch Brennen teilweise oder völlig entwässert. Gipsstein kennzeichnet sich dadurch, dass er während des Brennens einen Teil seines Wassers verliert und damit zu Gips wird, der mit Wasser gemischt, beim Abbinden hart wird. Um bei verschiedenen Gipsen zu verhindern, dass sie zu schnell abbinden, werden den gebrannten Gipssteinen häufig Abbindeverzögerer in geringen Mengen zugesetzt. Für gewisse Sonderzwecke wird dem Gipsstein das Wasser vollständig entzogen und geringe Mengen eines Abbindebeschleunigers – z. B. …
