TWO 12 BORE OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUNS, MADE BY JAMES PURDEY & SONS.THEY WERE MADE AS A SPECIALLY MATCHED PAIR. THEY ARE IDENTICAL IN SIZE, WEIGHT, & LOOKS BUT NUMBERED 1 AND 2 TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THEM. THEY WERE MADE BY HAND IN 1990 WITH SOLID 'WOODWARD' STYLE MATTED RIBS AND AUTOMATIC SAFETY CATCHES. THE NAME J.PURDEY AND SONS IS CARVED (NORMALLY ENGRAVED) AND THEN INLAID IN GOLD ON BOTH LOCK PLATES. SOLID GOLD OVALS WERE INLAID INTO THE STOCKS OF BOTH GUNS SO THE OWNER COULD HAVE THEIR INITIALS OR FAMILY CREST ENGRAVED. THE GUNS HAVE SINGLE TRIGGERS, MEANING THAT THE STOCKS COULD BE BUILT WITH A PRINCE OF WALES PISTOL GRIP, THE END OF WHICH WAS CAPPED IN METAL AND ENGRAVED IN FINE SCROLL. THE BUTT OF EACH ONE IS FINISHED IN A HAND CRAFTED LEATHER COVERING PAD. THERE IS ALSO A FULLY HAND MADE BESPOKE LEATHER CASE CRAFTED TO HOLD BOTH GUNS.
