Erläuterungen zum Harmonisierten System (HS) Gerste hat meist größere Körner als Weizen; sie wird hauptsächlich als Viehfutter, zur Malzherstellung oder, in Form von geschälter oder perlförmig geschliffener Gerste, zum Zubereiten von Suppen oder anderen Speisen verwendet. Gerste unterscheidet sich von den meisten anderen Getreidearten dadurch, dass bei zahlreichen Gerstenarten (bespelzte Gerste) die Spelzen fest an den Körnern haften und sich durch Dreschen allein nicht lösen. Derartige Gerste ist von strohgelber Farbe und an beiden Enden spitz. Sie gehört nur hierher, wenn ihr die Spelzen noch anhaften. Gerste, die durch Schälen von diesen Spelzen, bisweilen auch teilweise vom Perikarp, befreit ist, gehört zu Position 1104. Nackte Gerste (von Natur aus ohne anhaftende Spelzen) bleibt in dieser Position, sofern sie über das Dreschen hinaus nicht weiter bearbeitet ist. …
