Erläuterungen zum Harmonisierten System (HS) Luftkalk (ungelöscht oder wasserfrei) wird durch Brennen von Kalksteinen, die sehr wenig oder keinen Ton enthalten, hergestellt. Er hat den Charakter eines unreinen Calziumoxids, das sehr stark Wasser anzieht; mit Wasser verbunden, entwickelt er eine starke Hitze und verwandelt sich dabei in Kalkhydrat, auch gelöschter Kalk genannt; gelöschter Kalk wird im allgemeinen zur Bodenaufbesserung und in der Zuckerindustrie verwendet. Wasserkalk wird durch Brennen bei niedriger Temperatur aus Kalksteinen, die eine genügende Menge Ton (im allgemeinen aber weniger als 20 %) enthalten, gewonnen hat die Eigenschaft, unter Wasser zu erhärten. Wasserkalk unterscheidet sich von natürlichem Zement dadurch, dass er noch eine beträchtliche Menge an ungebundenem Kalk enthält, der mit Wasser ablöschen kann. …
