Es enthält noch kleine Anteile von schweren Teerölen. Es ist schwarz oder braun, weich oder spröde und dient vor allem zur Herstellung von Elektroden, Teeren für den Straßenbau, zur Imprägnierung oder zur Brikettierung von Kohle. Zu dieser Position gehört auch geblasenes Pech, das durch Einblasen von Luft leicht verändert wurde. Pechkoks ist der Endrückstand der Destillation von Steinkohlenteeren oder anderen Mineralteeren oder auch von Pech aus diesen Teeren. Er wird als Elektrodenrohstoff oder als Brennstoff verwendet.
